Research Interests

Most of my research focuses on the use of space Earth observation (EO) data for environment monitoring, including land cover land use mapping (LCLU), and disaster management. I am particularly interested on the development of algorithms for extracting information and knowledge from space EO and ancillary data based on the analysis of multi-spectral, multi-spatial and multi-temporal patterns. Lately I have been working on ensemble of classifiers and on efficient methods for automatic definition of sampling units for training supervised classification algorithms. Another line of research focuses on the quantification of the impact on error assessment of the uncertainty introduced in reference data by image interpreters.
