Carolina Vasconcelos, PhD student at NOVA IMS, developed in her master thesis, oriented by Professor Bruno Damásio, a new statistical methodology applied to Markov Chains. This innovation earned her the Young Research Award from REM/ISEG - Economia.

This new methodology improves and refines this prediction model and will be useful for several situations, from predicting the evolution of a pandemic, projecting stock market investment returns, or predicting consumer behavior more assertively.
