Biography

Tiago H. Moreira de Oliveira, currently a PhD student in Information Management & GIS at NOVA IMS (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa), with a work entitled “The Emotion-Aware City: Using Ambient Geographic Information (AGI) in order to understand Emotion & Stress within Smart Cities”. He has also a Master Degree in Land Management and Urban Planning, and a degree in Geography and Territorial Planning.

After the work experience at the Centro de Estudos Geográficos and Santa Casa da Misericordia of Lisbon, since, 2010, became the Executive Coordinator for I&D national and international Projects at NOVA IMS (LabNT), participating and leading about 40 projects related with GIS & Science.

His role as executive coordinator of this research department led him to participate in research and innovation projects that, for example, promote the conception, development and implementation of GIS for management, integration and analysis. His knowledge and expertise in GIS and Project Management allowed him to coordinate Projects; plan and assign tasks to the project’s team; prepare new proposals; write scientific articles, and also contribute in GIS consulting areas.

In the same institution plays the role of Coordinator in the GIS & Science master course (www.novaims.unl.pt/unigis), and as a member of the UNIGIS International Network, which is associated to this master course. Since he has expertise in e-learning Platforms, he’s a relevant asset in the programming of the course and its schedule; the design, maintenance and implementation of the e-learning Platform, and also by monitoring and following the students during the course.

Since 2010 he became an assistant in teaching the courses of Geographic Information Systems and Science in NOVA IMS and FCT-UNL, both faculties from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.

Felipe Campos is Postdoctoral Researcher at NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS). He got PhD in Biodiversity at the University of Barcelona, awarded with International Mention and Cum Laude. The most important parts of his thesis focused on the economic perspective of biodiversity–ecosystem-services for improving human well-being in threatened hotspots. In 2017, he was awarded by the Spanish Association of Terrestrial Ecology (AEET) National Prize for ecology research projects led by young researchers. A key contribution he has made to the field is a research article in Science Advances, validating the usefulness of an ecological and evolutionary approach for improved cost-effective outcomes. He also contributes as reviewer of many important scientific journals, such as Biodiversity and Conservation, Journal of Environmental Management, Tropical Conservation Science, Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Ecology and Evolution, among others. Currently, he is working on the FCT project ASEBIO – Assessment of Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity in Portugal.
