Ales Popovic is a Professor of Information Systems at NEOMA Business School, France. He holds visiting positions at the School of Economics and Business at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and at NOVA IMS – Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal. He received his Ph.D. in Information Management at the University of Ljubljana. Dr. Popovic seeks to find research that is relevant and useful to both the academic and practitioner communities. His research interests are focused on the study of how digital innovations provide value for people, organizations, and markets. He studies digital innovation value in organizations, behavioral and organizational issues in IT, and IT in inter-organizational relationships.

Dr. Popovic has a proven record of outstanding research, as evidenced by existing high-quality publications according to Slovenian Research Agency, an independent public funding organization performing tasks relating to the National Research and Development Program. He has published his research in a variety of top-quality academic outlets, such as Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Journal of Business Research, and Government Information Quarterly, among others.

In his research projects he cooperates with some of the most reputable foreign research institutions in his research field. Ales is currently the principal investigator for Slovenian Research Agency research program “P5-0410 – Digitalization as Driving Force for Sustainability of Individuals, Organizations, and Society”. His research was recognized through the University of Ljubljana Best Young Professor Award for Extraordinary Teaching and Research Achievements (2010), Trimo Research Award (2011), and School of Economics and Business Research Award (2012 and 2016).

His pedagogical work includes lectures and organization at all levels of programs at the home institution and abroad. He is an author of popular articles in professional media that reach a wider circle of readers.

Dr. Popovic is a member of professional and scientific associations, including the Association for Information Systems, the premier gathering for individuals and organizations who lead the research, teaching, practice, and study of information technology worldwide. He also serves as an active reviewer for journals and world-renowned scientific conferences in his research fields. Aleš is on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Business Research, Industrial Management and Data Systems, and International Journal of Information Management.

Professor Popovic has proved the ability to transfer theoretical insights into practical implications as demonstrated by ample evidence of successfully completed consulting projects. Among others, he has led or participated in projects from leading Slovenian enterprises, such as Telekom Slovenije (the leading mobile service provider), Snaga (waste removal and waste disposal public company), Post of Slovenia, as well as public institutions, such as Surveying and Mapping Authority of Slovenia, Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and Radio-television Slovenia.
