Ricardo Baptista Leite

Dr. Ricardo Baptista Leite, MD, PhD(c), Infectious Disease Physician, graduated from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the NOVA University of Lisbon. He was recently appointed CEO of the International Digital Health and AI Research Initiative (I-DAIR). From 2011 to 2023, he served as a Member of Parliament for the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in the National Assembly. He is currently a Councilor for the PSD in the Municipal Council of Sintra. He is the Founder and President of UNITE, a global network of parliamentarians present in over 90 countries whose mission is to promote efficient and sustainable health policies in the field of Global Health in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He is also a Board Member and Vice President of the Parliamentary Network on The World Bank & International Monetary Fund, a network of over 1000 parliamentarians who work directly with the leadership of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Additionally, he is a Global Ambassador for the G20 Health & Development Partnership, which aims to work with G20 countries in developing health and development policies aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. He was recognized as an HCV Change Maker by The Economist in 2016 in acknowledgment of his political and academic work towards the elimination of hepatitis C. He serves as the Chair of the Global Health Center at NOVA IMS and is an Invited Professor at the Nova Medical School. He is the lead author of the book "Citizenship for Health" (2015) and "A Path to Healing" (2020), among other publications.
