Fernando Medina

Fernando Medina was born in Porto, in 1973.

He is an economist, graduated from the Faculdade de Economia do Porto and holds a Master's degree in Economic Sociology (SSOAEconomics) from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão da Universidade de Lisboa.

He was mayor of Lisbon City Council (2015-2021), vice-president in charge of Finance (2013-2015) and president of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (2017-2021).

He was deputy and vice-president of the Parliamentary Group of the PS (2011-2013), having belonged to the Budget and Finance Committee and to the Monitoring Committee of the Economic and Financial Assistance Program.

He was Secretary of State for Industry and Development at the Ministry of Economy (2009-2011) and Secretary of State for Employment and Vocational Training at the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity (2005-2009).

He was advisor for Education and advisor for Economic Affairs to Prime Minister António Guterres.

He has held positions in agencies and services of the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy, and is currently a staff member of AICEP.

He is a member of the Secretariat of the Socialist Party.
