It plays a crucial role in the NOVA IMS Strategy, connecting the academic world and the professional world of statisticians and information managers, contributing to establishing the criteria of excellence that guides the NOVA IMS educational activity. AD NOVA IMS's support to NOVA IMS is the object of a protocol between that Association and the Nova University of Lisbon Rectorate.

AD NOVA IMS is represented in the General Council of NOVA IMS by three of its members, who, among other duties, are responsible for participating in the election of the NOVA IMS Dean.

AD NOVA IMS has created a select group of institutions around NOVA IMS that advise, support, and, at the same time, benefit from the high quality and excellence of its services to provide the country with an institute recognized at international level in this strategic area.

AD NOVA IMS members form a circle, the access to which presides a spirit of rigorous selection, which provides them with a university conviviality and a fruitful exchange of experiences and ideas.

AD NOVA IMS is responsible for the organisation, management and carrying out of courses belonging to the Professional Development Programme - Courses for Executives in Statistics and Information Management. The three major varieties of training models are Specialization courses/Post-graduation; Short Courses and Seminars.

This programs includes the attribution of scholarships and internships. Also, part of its attributions relies on the organization of conferences under the theme of Statistics and Information Management.

This department also supports the participation in research projects undertaken national and foreign institutions.

• Invitation to all initiatives of the NOVA IMS/ AD NOVA IMS universe;
• Participate in NOVA IMS life, being entitled to intervene in the design of graduate and post-graduate courses  aimed to meeting the immediate needs of business;
• Take advantage of master and doctoral theses and participate in research seminars aimed at promoting them.

At NOVA IMS we encourage continual individual development through excellence. So we believe in awarding prizes to all those who have exceeded both their own and our expectations in their studies, and those who have got above average grades in several subjects.

AD NOVA IMS also sponsors the Academic Excellence Incentive award, which distinguishes the student with the best application grade for the Degree in Information Management, the Degree in Information Systems and the Degree in Data Science, in the amount of the tuition fee⁽¹⁾.
