50 Years Later: Former Military Personnel Recall April 25 at NOVA IMS

Detalhe da Notícia

In the early hours of April 25th, 1974, a military force departed from the Headquarters of the Caçadores Battalion 5 – where Nova Information Management School (NOVA IMS) is now located – to take control of Lisbon's main communication centers: the General Headquarters of the Military Government and the Rádio Clube Português. This marked the beginning of the Carnation Revolution.

Among the approximately 200 men who were part of the two companies that formed this military force were Lieutenant Mascarenhas and Ensign Teixeira. Fifty years after that dawn, NOVA IMS invited the two military personnel to revisit the events of the time.

In a journey back to the past and through the corridors of the former barracks, Francisco Mascarenhas and Filipe Teixeira explain the daily life of the Caçadores Battalion 5, in the facilities now occupied by students and professors, and how the movements of the unit unfolded, playing a crucial role in the realization of the April Revolution.
