A study developed by NOVA IMS shows the importance and potential of in vitro diagnostics

Detalhe da Notícia

Research developed by NOVA IMS shows the potential of in vitro diagnostics for patients, professionals and the health system. The results were presented and discussed at the event "The importance of Diagnosis: impact on health and on citizens", an Expresso initiative supported by Roche.

Assessing the impact of in vitro diagnostics on the health system is the main objective of the exploratory study initiated by NOVA IMS, whose first conclusions were made at the event "The Importance of Diagnosis: impact on health and on citizens", an initiative by Expresso with support from Roche, in which experts, policy makers and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry participated. Among the results obtained by the researchers are the advantages of HPV testing, which considerably reduces the incidence of the disease and reduces mortality.

"In cervical cancer there are examples that, just by doing the test, there is a 30% reduction in incidence and about 70% in mortality, a huge impact on the costs of the National Health System (NHS)", he explains to Expresso Guilherme Victorino, Professor and Director of the Nova Innovation & Analytics Lab at NOVA IMS.
