Join us for a Tree-Planting initiative

NOVA IMS, in partnership with the Oeiras City Council, organizes a tree-planting activity open to the entire university community, including students, faculty, staff, and researchers. Join us for this event on February 24th, from 10:00 to 12:00 at Serra de Carnaxide, as we come together to make a meaningful environmental contribution. Transportation will be provided by NOVA IMS, departing from the Campolide Campus at 09:15. Upon return, a recovery lunch will be served. Let's make a positive impact together and contribute to a greener future!

NOVA IMS joins european effort to decarbonize construction

NOVA IMS is proud to contribute to the DECO2 project, funded by the Horizon Europe program, with a goal to diminish the construction industry's impact on energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. The project, led by the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP), involves experts from eight countries focusing on location-specific, user-centric materials, and renovation systems. Under Professor Tiago Oliveira's leadership, NOVA IMS will analyze social aspects of decarbonization and circular business models, considering user behavior and attitudes. DECO2 aims for a substantial impact, targeting a 30% reduction in building energy consumption, introducing a circular economy in construction, and enhancing overall built environment sustainability.

Pinheiro proposes strategies to enhance the transparency and accountability of AI algorithms.
